According to people within the industry Microsoft is expected to launch a new modern search engine in the next week or two, suspected to reside at www.bing.com. This is another interesting attempt by the software giant to try and weed its way back into the ever growing Google domination.
Once live we will have a review of it and see just how worth while this search engine will become. If all goes well it could be another algorithm to get our heads around for search engine optimisation!
Most of the world is familiar with the legend which is Jeeves – the man with all the answers!
Ask.com have announced that this week the will be bring Jeeves back from retirement to star on their website once again some three years after retiring.
Jeeves has had a bit of a makeover including the addition of a third dimension and also even wearing a suit styled by Savile Row tailors Gieves & Hawkes. (more…)
Google was in the Sunday Times where they were looking on at how they manage to dodge £100million’s each year by charging customers through their Irish subsiduary as opposed to the UK.
Following an independant accounts survey commisioned by the Times (Richard Murphy) they discovered that in 2007 Google paid a mere £600,000 in UK taxes despite producing revenue of £1.25bn! (more…)
Pop onto Google and punch in recession and it would not suprise me if it had no idea what you were talking about!
On Thursday, whilst being watched closely by lots of people, Google announced its Q1 profits and revenue for 2009.
Google, the worlds largest search engine and money spinning website announced total net income of $1.42 billion which exceeded analysts expectations and was an 8.9% increase on the same quarter last year. Total revenue was at over $4 billion for the company. Google itself had to work hard to hit these targets on Wall Street and achieved this by clever cost cutting and cautious spending.
In the release Google also pointed out that paid click (pay per click) was up by 17% which for us re-itterates the importance of a good pay per click campaign with more people using this service.
Google is expected to see some “slower growth” in Q2 and Q3 as the recession worsens but promises to continue its strive in invest in emerging technologies and businesses.
