Everybody with a business head on their shoulders has said since the first days of Facebook – where’s the revenue? For quite a while nobody could understand just how Facebook was going to make any money from its rapidly growing social networking site.

One of the most widely used tools on the internet is Google’s free analytics package, obviously named Google Analytics.
A lot of people don’t realise that Google actually changed its code that you need to track your website back in 2007 and said that they would only support it for 12-24 months. With that in mind one would assume that if you are running on your old code that your website could be about to stop being tracked.
Please ensure that your website is running on the new urchin.js tracking and not the ga.js.
Google analytics are a very useful tool for measuring both traffic and revenue, but also the effectiveness of your search engine optimisation, pay per click and any other online marketing activities that you may be involved in.
For a free check of your analytics package to ensure you are running on the correct platform or if you want us to install Google analytics onto you website please get in contact with us on   0333 123 0 999  .

Thought that all of the good .com domain names were all snapped up and never to be seen again? Provoke have caught on to the fact that many years ago people thought it would be clever to buy up loads of desirable domains to sell on at a premium in later life.
The fact of the matter is that this bubble is certainly bursting for these horders with the economic melt-down, increase parking charges and expensive renewals.
The benefit of a domain name with relevant keywords to your business can be incredible for search engines. Type most keywords into google and the first page will almost certainly contain a website with the generic term in its address.
At Provoke we have the ability to try and capture domains the second that they expire from these people and secure them for you. From around £100 (held as deposit and not used unless the domain becomes available) we can try and snap you up your perfect domain name.

Google was in the Sunday Times where they were looking on at how they manage to dodge £100million’s each year by charging customers through their Irish subsiduary as opposed to the UK.

News this week is that whilst the likes of Google and Facebook look to acquire the massively growing microblogging site Twitter a young self-described ‘Technologist, Photographer, Raconteur’ who’s account is @cnnbrk, has managed to sell his account to CNN.
Whilst the details of how much it went for are unpublished the user had built himself up to be the most followed person on the site with over 950,000 followers.
Originally setup just so that he could push breaking news to his phone he inedvertinently picked up many other followers, most of which did not realise this wasn’t an official CNN news feed.
Whilst Twitter technically do not allow for accounts to be sold it is unclear how the deal was structured but congratulations to the man who successfully copied news and made a fortune!
Pop onto Google and punch in recession and it would not suprise me if it had no idea what you were talking about!
On Thursday, whilst being watched closely by lots of people, Google announced its Q1 profits and revenue for 2009.
Google, the worlds largest search engine and money spinning website announced total net income of $1.42 billion which exceeded analysts expectations and was an 8.9% increase on the same quarter last year. Total revenue was at over $4 billion for the company. Google itself had to work hard to hit these targets on Wall Street and achieved this by clever cost cutting and cautious spending.
In the release Google also pointed out that paid click (pay per click) was up by 17% which for us re-itterates the importance of a good pay per click campaign with more people using this service.
Google is expected to see some “slower growth” in Q2 and Q3 as the recession worsens but promises to continue its strive in invest in emerging technologies and businesses.
